We only had 30 minutes ashore before the rapidly rising tide nearly claimed our dinghy, but the white sandy beaches and art-filled streets left a lasting impression.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text is-stacked-on-mobile\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"740\" height=\"560\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/moxieenmer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Fishguard-Wales.png?resize=740%2C560&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1702 size-full\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/moxieenmer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Fishguard-Wales.png?w=740&amp;ssl=1 740w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/moxieenmer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Fishguard-Wales.png?resize=300%2C227&amp;ssl=1 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 740px) 100vw, 740px\" \/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From Cornwall, we crossed to <em><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Milford_Haven\">Milford Haven, Wales<\/a><\/em>, and hiked more of the stunning coastline along the <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.southwestcoastpath.org.uk\/walk-coast-path\/south-west-coast-path-national-trail\/\">South West Coast Path<\/a><\/em>. From there, we moved on through <em><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Jack_Sound\">Jack Sound<\/a><\/em>\u2014a narrow gap filled with submerged rocks that act like &#8220;fiberglass can openers.&#8221; Despite some &#8220;boiling&#8221; counter-currents, we emerged unscathed and made our way to <em>Fishguard<\/em>. Watching local boats sit on their keels in the mud at low tide\u2014a reminder of why we stay in the deeper outer harbor!<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns are-vertically-aligned-top is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-8f761849 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:46%\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The run to <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitanglesey.co.uk\/en-gb\/explore\/towns\/holyhead\">Holyhead<\/a><\/em> was \u2018sporty\u2019! With the wind building into the mid-twenties, <em>Moxie<\/em> was surfing down waves at over 13 knots. Snagging a mooring ball in 25-knot winds inside the harbor took some teamwork, but we celebrated our success with a well-deserved dinner at the <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.holyheadsailingclub.co.uk\/\">Holyhead Sailing Club<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:54%\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"750\" height=\"292\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/moxieenmer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Peel_Isle-of-Man-1.png?resize=750%2C292&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1704\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/moxieenmer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Peel_Isle-of-Man-1.png?w=996&amp;ssl=1 996w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/moxieenmer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Peel_Isle-of-Man-1.png?resize=300%2C117&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/moxieenmer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Peel_Isle-of-Man-1.png?resize=768%2C299&amp;ssl=1 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-8f761849 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We then made a sunset run to <em>Peel<\/em> on the west side of the <em>Isle of Man<\/em>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While the harbor was too small for <em>Moxie<\/em>, we grabbed a visitor mooring long enough to capture some drone shots of the ancient castle before the westerly swell nudged us toward Scotland.  On June 7th, we officially reached <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.yachthavens.com\/troon-yacht-haven\">Troon Yacht Haven<\/a><\/em>. Frankly, the weather in Troon was, &#8220;shite&#8221; (pronounced \u2018shight\u2019 &#8211; sideways rain and endless drizzle), so we took the train to <em><a href=\"https:\/\/edinburgh.org\/\">Edinburgh<\/a><\/em>. We took a guided tour of <em><a href=\"https:\/\/outaboutscotland.com\/the-royal-mile-edinburgh\/\">The Royal Mile<\/a><\/em><strong>:<\/strong> (from grave robbers to Harry Potter (yes, the real Tom Riddle\u2019s headstone is there!), saw a live18-piece jazz band and passed through <em><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Johnstone\">Johnstone<\/a><\/em>, the ancestral home of Anthony\u2019s grandfather.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Back at the boat, we spent our rainy days tackling the \u201clist\u201d to get ready for the next leg north to Oban!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This leg was a push north from Falmouth to Troon, Scotland, while staying out of Irish waters to keep our &#8220;Schengen clock&#8221; on hold.
