Day 4 – Sat. 5/25 –Morning winds are good and we’re sailing nicely/comfortably. I have a video but we’ve already used 80% of our Data allotment for Starlink so I’ll add it when we get to Horta.
We dropped to 9th place and are 60 nm behind the leader (White Night) because of our choice of northerly route – hopefully we can regain some distance on the other boats and start a climb back up the leaderboard. Might have to move more to the north to set up for potential 20kt NE headwinds in a day or two. We do not want to “pound” into the wind any longer than necessary because it’s hard on Moxie and her crew! If those winds materialize, it won’t be a fun 24 hrs, but maybe better for us than the rest of the fleet to the south.
Update at 2:30 MT- We are now 8th and 45 NM behind White Night.
Janice,
Very interesting to see the formation of your armada. Didn’t realize there was a competition involved. Is it a formal race or more informal event?
Enjoying your posts, and learning about those sailing terms

Well… technically it’s not a “race” – it’s a “rally”, but whenever there are 2 boats going to the same place… 🙂 You can follow the “leaderboard” by Downloading the YB Races app for the App Store, add the race “ARCEurope2024”, select and then choose the Bermuda to Azores leg.
OR
Go to the World Cruising website, “ARC Europe”, then click “Fleet Tracker” at the top left, and the USA Bermuda leg.
