Day 11 (Sat., 6/1) – Last day at sea (Hopefully)
We started off with little wind so we had to motor for awhile, but eventually we turned it off and enjoyed “champagne sailing”! – Winds 10 – 14 knots, from behind, in smooth seas and Moxie was gliding along… Magic!!! We are still adding to our lead… Race Tracker shows us ~ 96 NMs ahead – The image below looks a little like a “fox and the hounds”…
Conditions haven’t been this calm for many days, so we set up a “photo shoot”. Back story – one of Jeff and Rachael’s sons is getting married in November. The bride (on the left) and friends are having her shower in Charleston, SC and sent the photo below. Rachael and I decided to stage our own version of this picture! I really think ours is better!!!
We’ve spent some time thinking about what our “finish line song” should be. When we crossed the line from the Canaries to St. Lucia in 2022, we played “It’s my life” (Bon Jovi). After much careful deliberation, and suggestions from family and friends, we decided on “When My Ship Comes In” (Clint Black, 1992). It’s very fitting for the 4 of us.
We had surprisingly good winds all the way in and crossed the finish line at 1:30 am, Sun, 6/2 Bermuda time, (4:30 am local-Azores, 6/1 @ 10:30 pm MT). Moxie did her thing!
AWESOME! Way to go! Get some rest and enjoy that champagne!
WOW! What a trip. Congratulations to you all for a spectacular voyage.

Yay! Cheers to the winners! “Winners winners, seafood dinners!”
Sounds like a very rough trip and glad you are finally getting rest. Good thing you are all in such good shape! I enjoyed reading the posts. Enjoy your down time.
