We’re here, We’re here!

We’re here! After 2 long years (it was exactly this day 2 years ago, when we were here for the Boat Show).   A lot has happened since we left London on Sunday, 4/25.  We weren’t sure whether we would be allowed into France and have taken many different steps to smooth our path, but in the end, all immigration wanted to know was “where we were arriving from” (the UK) and evidence of a negative COVID test. They didn’t ask for our “compelling” reason, or tell us to self-isolate, or require another negative test at any point….  In practice, the UK had much tighter quarantine and testing requirements than France, even though UK cases have plummeted. Montpellier Airport, France

We arrived late on Sunday evening (4/25) and went to the boat Monday morning. What a thrill that was.  Champagne and flowers greeted us as well as lots of other “swag”– It was an incredible moment for us both.

Anthony is over the moon and acting like a proud papa!

Now we’re busy trying to assemble everything we need to live on the boat.  We brought two big duffle bags each, but that had only our clothes and some equipment we didn’t want to buy here (i.e., drone, GoPro, coffee maker, basic tools, etc.). The boat is wired for 120V (the US standard), but Europe works on the 220V system.  We still need bed linens, plates, cutlery, pots and pans, food, trash bags, hangars, etc.  It’s a big list. Tomorrow we head to Carrefour – think Target, King Soopers, and Home Depot all in 1 store.  And we get to shop for everything we need in a different language! It promises to be fun!
